Uso de escalas en la evaluación y seguimiento de los trastornos afectivos


A diferencia de otras especialidades médicas, la Psiquiatría se basa casi exclusivamente en las entrevistas con los pacientes y en la observación, para el diagnóstico y el seguimiento de la eficacia del tratamiento. Ya que apenas contamos con hallazgos físicos o biomarcadores específicos, la historia clínica y la exploración psicopatológica -el examen del estado mental- representan nuestro instrumento diagnóstico primario.

A menudo, esto proporciona suficiente detalle para que los psiquiatras clasifiquen los grupos de síntomas en síndromes clínicos reconocidos y/o entidades nosológicas más o menos específicas e inicien el tratamiento apropiado.
