Manejo práctico de opiodes en pacientes oncológicos


El dolor es el síntoma más temido e incapacitante de las personas afectadas por un cáncer. Una revisión realizada sobre la presencia de síntomas en pacientes con cáncer avanzado situaba el dolor como el segundo síntoma más frecuente en estos enfermos, solo por detrás de la astenia.

En general, el dolor está presente en el 30-40% de los enfermos sometidos a tratamiento activo y en el 70-90% de los pacientes que presentan enfermedad avanzada. Diversos estudios han demostrado que la mitad de los pacientes con cáncer que sufren dolor reciben tratamiento analgésico inadecuado.
