Uso adecuado de la TC en la cardiopatía isquémica


La enfermedad coronaria y la cardiopatía isquémica constituyen la principal causa de morbimortalidad y fallecimiento en la población adulta española. En el año 2013, se estima que la incidencia de infarto agudo de miocardio en sujetos de entre 25 y 74 años fue de 263/100.000 varones y de 77/100.000 mujeres y que el 81.3% de los 115.752 casos de síndrome coronario agudo ocurridos en España fueron debidos a infarto de miocardio (1).

El desarrollo tecnológico ha permitido que, actualmente, la vascularización coronaria se pueda estudiar de manera no invasiva con gran fiabilidad. Entre las técnicas disponibles destaca la cardio-tomografía computarizada (CTC).

En este documento se describen las indicaciones de uso adecuado de la CTC en la cardiopatía isquémica. Se repasan las indicaciones actuales para realizar estudios dirigidos a cuantificar la calcificación coronaria y detectar estenosis coronaria y se revisan pautas sobre cómo se debe emplear la CTC en pacientes revascularizados.
